Mon, Apr 20, 2015 3:06 PM

NCL Members,

The National Coalition for Literacy (NCL) will host our next in-person membership meeting on Thursday, May 14th from 10am–4pm, in Washington, DC, exact location TBD. Our Literacy Leadership Awards Event, co-hosted by the House Adult LIteracy Caucus will be held on the evening of the 14th from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the Rayburn Gold Room.

An announcement about the winners will be posted shortly.

We’re working on the program for the members meeting. In addition to the usual invitation to OCTAE, we’re working on presentations on the SNAP E&T pilot projects and the SNAP program generally (http://www.fns.usda.gov/2014-snap-e-t-pilots); and on the Federal Strategic Action Plan on Immigrant and Refugee Integration released by the White House Task Force on New Americans (https://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/docs/final_tf_newamericans_report_4-14-15_clean.pdf). Additional suggestions welcome.

Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing many of you in Denver this week.

Yes, I agree.

I didn’t get a good sense from our last policy call as to which among NCL members is planning to comment on the regs. I assume ProLiteracy will, but they were noncommittal during the call. I assume also that Gail Spanenburg’s group will. Will World Ed?

Hopefully, enough members will be familiar enough with them for us to have a productive discussion!
