On Monday, October 25th, the Tacoma Food Co-op will be discussing future
plans for a retail location and holding board elections. The membership will
vote whether to go forward with a purchase of the Neighborhood Market at 6th
and Junett. The terms from owner John Loesch include a two-year deferral of
payments for the purchase of the business, except that the Co-op would pay
rent on the building.
Potluck and raffles start at 5:30 p.m. Prizes from local businesses will be
raffled off for new and existing members who attend the meeting. New
memberships will be accepted throughout the evening. For more information on
membership visit www.tacomafoodcoop.com. Information booths will be open
during the potluck for attendees to learn more about volunteer
opportunities, recent co-op accomplishments, finances, storefront options,
and more.
The annual business meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the
Evergreen State College Tacoma Campus (1210 6th Avenue, Tacoma). Child care
will be available for a small donation; RSVP is required – email
tacomafoodcoop@gmail.com. All are welcome to join in on the conversation.
Only members may vote.
Board elections will also be held. Persons interested in running for open
board positions should contact current Board President, Amber Englund, at
amber@tacomafoodcoop.com by October 20.
