Heads UP

A bit of a security heads-up:

Presently down in Ft. Lauderdale Bahia Mar attending TrawlerFest.

Satisfied with the Marina and dock staff, albeit pricey. But I guess it's in
line with Ft. Lauderdale area prices.

Anyways..arrived last Sunday afternoon. Extremely windy with 25-30kts
occasional 35kt gusts out  the N-NE. Tied up and settled in our slip. Pretty
much isolated down on the end of H dock North.

Woke up in the middle of the night to find the boat moving about quite a bit
more than usual. Walked out on deck to find both port side spring lines
untied and lying in the water. I've been tying dock lines for 30yrs and my
ties do NOT come loose. Fortunately no damage as the bow/stern lines held.

Next morning around early afternoon my wife and I return from a bike ride
out for lunch. Go back up to the bike rack about an hour later to run some
errands and find the brand-new (two weeks old) Trek bicycle gone. Had been
cable locked to the steel posts in the parking lot specifically designed for
securing bikes. No sign of cable lock anywhere. Reported everything to the
on-site security, local police, etc. who were professional and sympathetic
but not much else.

Not trying to diss the Bahia Mar facility and staff..just a heads-up to
anyone traveling thru or laying up in this area. This ain't Kansas.
