Today's discussion frivolously led me to a great song from the past by Sam
the Sham.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VhuhdggrhE

Note that Sam was an oppressed Mexican American who was forced by
capitalist forces to do a low-fi recording. He also drove a Packard hearse
to all of his performances, forstalling the need for a separate funeral
car. To exhibit his oppression, his recording was circulated by these
forces. It now is available free on YouTube, which is part of its Google
master's plan for world domination thru identity profiling and control.
Please note, that I am sitting at a Google gala table at the OII-ICS
conference this week. To symbolize their takeover, they and OII
have requested I wear "black tie". In protest, I will wear Red Tie.
Whatcha gonna do?

Back to editing another paper to send off to a serious journal that is
alas published by an evil oligopistic corporation masquerading as a family
business: SaGe = Sarah & George, in case you didn't know.

In smug scholarly solidarity,

Barry Wellman

Yes, Sam was the R&R Tito Puente/Carmen Maranda of his time.  PJ's perspective is by his own account based on a singular vector and  should be considered in that context.  As I am the least sophisticated of this august group, I contend that PJ's comments offer a critical perspective on its own merit. A careful read of most of the comments assists in framing a potential discussion for research, whether welcomed or not by this or that regime/corporate group or club.  Bump this thinking up to now include the adjustable economic capitalism-based paradigm that post Soviet New Russia and the PRC are adopting.  Clearly profit driven, politically collaborative perhaps as an expedient across a more global spectrum playing for national power and influence within that domain.  Any substantial society should be applying critical theory and Modeling and Simulating outcomes if for no other reason than to determine fit and ranking and strategic alignments. This makes it the most capitalist of attributes - self-serving.  The "thin skins", if any, should consider a career move to psychology.  There is a place at the table for all.  It is a big table after all.  Be bold.  It is a Brave New World.  I know, I know!
