From an email from Ben Gray of Idlewild:

I focus primarily on the expedition and have very limited time for
communication, however I will try to provide you with what you need.
While this is a private expedition and we are not trying to promote
it as anything beyond that, we do want to share it with new friends
as well as those sharing it now.

My son Brad will reply to you when I am short of time.

The Chutes were a major obstacle for us as there was no summer road,
but we made it in 2 days, then we ran into shallow water above Boyer
Rapids and had no alternative after 10 hours of charting and
sounding, to giving it a try.  We winched and pulled for 4 days, sunk
our jet boat with no injuries, then got through with extensive damage
to the undercarriage.  We pulled the boat out at Ft. Chipewyan,
welded on new hubs and wheels for the next portage and are leaving Ft
Chip today.  People are exceptionally helpful and friendly as they
have been everywhere and we are deeply indebted to them here.

Take care,
Ben Gray
