Just ran Manta PowerCat 44 number 2 back from the Miami show to Ft.
Lauderdale. Volvo D4 210 hp engines (max rpm 3400) with half tanks and full

cruising gear, relatively flat seas recorded the following offshore and
intercoastal.

Rpm 1400  Speed 8.1 knots  Fuel consumption 1.6 gals per hour

Rpm 2780  Speed 15.5 knots  Fuel consumption 12.3 gals per hour

Rpm 2890  Speed 16.5 knots  Fuel consumption 13 gals per hour

Makes one wonder what a multi-geared transmission would do for fuel economy
in
calm waters. Or an electric motor drive set to supply only the bear minimum
of
power to maintain these speeds in calm waters
