Gents,The exec met with the coaching staff last wed night to discuss team business as well as the selection process.I want to clear up one topic.. Coach Pete for all intents and purposes picked the sides and subs. Going forward the Exec and the coaches are resolved to communicate more to the club about some of the more critical decisions made about the club and players.
On to selections:I want the club to know that all viewpoints went into the discussion including all those emailed to me, Kris, Klaus and the club,  and I can tell you that in all the emails and our own sentiments, the resounding theme was that guys want to be part of a winning club. I also want to clarify that the original reason behind any training rule we have had was to keep people consistent at training and get the numbers out. Moving into the Spring 2 things will happen, we will no longer be “counting” trainings attended but will still be keeping attendance. This means that the Coaches and Selectors will continue to take attendance but there is no set requirement for trainings. It means that we are putting the Selectors and Coaches on the hook for making the decisions on who starts and subs on both squads period. It means that if the guy in front of you misses a training that is one more opportunity for you to improve over him. It will not go unnoticed. The second is that the coaching staff and selectors will, to the best of their abilities, pick the D3 side as well. The selection criteria will be based on: PerformanceAttendanceFitnessRugby AwarenessUnderstanding of the Harlequins Game Plan
Please respond directly to me if you have any questions or comments.
