If I remember correctly,the original wavepiercer catamaran developed by Phil
Hercus bore more than a passing resemblance to the Antrim design. It
consisted of a cabin suspended well above the water by legs attached to very
low buoyancy hulls. It very quickly became modified into the basic shape
that we know today. I suspect the lack of any reserve buoyancy on the
original design was what led to the changes. Of course the original was not
inflatable.
