Justin Hahn Memorial and Artwork Re-dedication Join us on August 29th at 6:30pm at the Tacoma Police Wapato Substation to honor the life of Justin Hahn who passed away last winter. His public artwork - Significant Figures in the Development of Polymers - has been conserved and will be on view alongside a new plaque honoring the artist's life. Friends, family, and colleagues who knew Justin will speak, and light refreshments will be served. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Plastics and Composites from Western Washington University where he graduated with honors. He furthered his art education at Pilchuck glass school in Stanwood Washington. He received a Tacoma Artist Initiative Award in 2007. Hahn worked as an art fabricator, bronze foundry artisan, architectural decorative metal artist and sculptor. As an artist, he was best known for his figurative sculptural works in metals and plastics. He has works in several private and public collections. While his artwork often explored the destructive impact of science on human existence, he also approached his work and life with hope, saying "chemistry and mechanics coupled with intelligent design and practical application can propel global problems into harmonious equilibriums." Justin Hahn is remembered for his humor, vision, and as a devoted son, brother, husband, and father of three.
