Rudy,
Was the 36 footer too heavy for you?
Maybe Jill could have rowed the dink over.
Was the current against you?
Sad to watch such potential destruction.

All true, Tom, but it was the current that Jill wimped out on.

I pulled a boat off a sandbar once by tying a line upstream and letting it
swing to shore. Rain helped float it, no one had the energy to wrestle the
silly thing to shore. It was a long day.
Well, at least you didn’t have to pay admission.
Good reporting.

maybe I'm from the old ole scholl. If I see a boat in trouble/sinking/etc
then I would go see if I could help whether anyone is aboard or not.

I my years of being on the water, 60+, I've helped and saved many a boat.
Swan Song has a couple of deployable 4000 GPH pumps with hoses attached and
a 35' coil of 10 gauge wire with clamps. If there's 12 volts on the boat
fine otherwise I use a spare battery or the tender battery.
Most slow sinkers are easy to pump and find the leak. Few boats today
spring a leak thru the hull planks :-)

We've also towed many boats off reefs/groundings with our tender over the
years. Most of those were sailboats as it easier to heel them and get them
free.

It would be tough for me even at 80 to just let a boat sink next to me
unless there was some catastrophic reason not to.
