I am forewarding a post from a Cheoy Lee 52 which left the Florida Gulf Coast
about a year ago and is now in the La Paz area, via the Galapagos and Equidor.
This is their most recent posting,  redacted to remove personal information:

February, 19th we left Puerto Moreno, San Cristobal, Galapagos for the
2,100 nautical mile trip directly to La Paz, Mexico.  Our 15 day voyage was

an

adventure and a success.  It's our longest voyage ever, and could be the
second longest of a circumnavigation.  The highlight of the voyage, if you
can call it that, was the weather for the last five days.  We pure got the
snot beat out of us.  None of the weather predictions picked up on it
until it was over.  We got sandwiched between a very strong high pressure to

the

west, and a very strong low to the east.  That gave us two days of gale
force winds out of the north, and three days of near gale force.  We had
waves consistently to 15 feet and occasionally to 20 feet.  We took green
water over the bow three times.  That has never happened to us before.
There was no place to run for shelter.  Moon Angel is one tough little
ship.

When we arrived near La Paz, we anchored for three days in a protected
cove to rest, clean up, and dry out before going into Marina Costabaja, La

Paz

for formal check in.  This last week we've done a bunch of maintenance

work,

especially projects that are made easier by having a dock to work from.
We discovered that, while not severe, the damage from the Captain Soto
incident was more extensive than previously evaluated.  I spent two of the

work

days re-attaching and strengthening a section of the swim platform.

Our plan is to leave La Paz Wednesday and head back out to the islands.
We'll probably spend the rest of April in the Sea of Cortez and then use
May to work our way up the Pacific coast to Ensenada.  This plan will put

us

north of the Pacific hurricane belt by the June 1st start of the season.

From all I can find out, this is a "off the shelf", mid 80's Cheoy Lee 52

motor yacht--not the larger 55 Long Range Cruiser" I believe that the power is
cat 3208's NA.
