Annual Meeting & Social - You're Invited!
Save the Date! Friday, November 22, 6pm ... This year Historic Tacoma is holding its Annual Meeting in the historic Pythian Temple on Broadway designed by Frederick Heath in 1906. Noted for its rich woodwork, decorative plaster and lighting, and considered a fine example of the late 19th and early 20th Century Revival Style, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It also is on the Tacoma Register of Historic Places.

Attendees will be greeted with a reception (with no-host bar) followed by brief presentation from Steve Dunkelberger on the history of the Pythian Temple in Tacoma, the design of the building, and its historical significance to Tacoma. This will occur one floor up following the reception in the Temple’s fabulous Castle Hall. Following Steve’s presentation Kathleen Brooker, Historic Tacoma Board President, will update attendees on this last year’s historic preservation accomplishments and Historic Tacoma’s plans for the coming year.
A donation of $8 is suggested with the proceeds going to SAVE OUR LANDMARK CHURCH to further their efforts to save the now threatened iconic, century-old Holy Rosary Church, also a designated landmark building.
It is suggested that those attending this event park on “Court C” at the rear of the building and use the rear entrance where they will be greeted and directed by Pythian Knights.
Don't miss this gathering of preservationists and friends of Tacoma's architectural legacy. For more information please contact Historic Tacoma at info@historictacoma.orgmailto:info@historictacoma.org?subject=HT%20Annual%20Meeting or Don Erickson at knute000@gmail.commailto:knute000@gmail.com.
