News release appearing on BYM Product and Industry News:

Fountaine Pajot launches four new catamaran models

By the time you read this, La Rochelle-based Fountaine Pajot will
have launched not one, not two, but four new catamaran models, all on
the same day.
.
The new models follow close in the wake of news about the company's
floatation on the Alternext stock exchange. The capital injection
generated from the floatation will provide a strong financial
platform from which to develop the company's manufacturing facilities
and increase its building capacity at the large end of their sailing
and motor line-ups.

First of the four new boats is the Salina 48, the replacement design
for the company's much-vaunted Bahia 46.The other sailing model
update is the Belize 43 that is being replaced by the new Orana 44.

There are two new models on the motoring side of the fleet too. The
great Cumberland 44 has been stretched by 2 feet and is re-named the
Cumberland 46 and the Highland 35 Pilot is now offered with a
UK-friendly interior helm position.

Very interesting. I should like more info. on the new Highland 35. Perhaps
I'll see if a visit to La Rochelle can be organised.

On another note, has the list archived any discussions re. the stability of
power cats. We all now that sailing cats can nosedive if they take waves too
fast. What about power cats?

Best,
Rup.

George,
I am an owner of a maryland 37 power cat which I
purchased new from the factory the end of 2005. I find
it amazing that the french manufacturer can spend all
it's time developing new models but can not satisfy
it's existing owners with proper customer service to
repair and or replace factory defects. I would warn
potential buyers to have their purchases surveyed and
checked over by professionals prior to turning over
any dollars to the broker or the factory.
An unhappy boat owner

I have been absent from the List for some time and may therefore have missed
some pertinant discussion.
During the recent America's Cup finals two powercats were trailing the
contestants each day. The second, more distant boat captured my interest.
The vessel is a wave-piercing cat with an elevated central "pod" housing the
accomodations.
I'm hoping to get any info regarding the boat. Thank you.

There has been no mention of the cats on the List (which is suffering
summer doldrums). Perhaps someone will pipe with the info, now that
you asked the question.
