Beam and slip availability on Great Loop

There is no question that a vessel with a beam of 18' 8" is going to have a
harder time finding slip space than one with a more normal width.  Even in a
few instances we had problem with our 14' beam.  However, many of the marinas
provide "T-Pier" or "wall" tie up for transients and those marinas will not be
a problem.  Having said that, boats with that wide a beam have finished the
Great Circle Route.  Just plan ahead a little more than others and when
calling a marina be sure to point out your need for a wider beam slip.
