No NCL Board Meeting in July

Since I've received a few emails already today, this is a reminder that we
have no NCL board meeting today.  The board decided to skip July because of
vacation schedules, so next board meeting will be in August.

However, NCL does have a 'Policy & Issues" call today at 4:00 p.m. EST.

Thanks Jeff. I do have a question for the Policy meeting this afternoon. Thought I’d ask it here in hopes that maybe you can find an answer between now and then. I saw a story this morning that the IRS has ruled that churches can now endorse political candidates.

https://www.npr.org/2025/07/08/nx-s1-5460886/irs-now-says-pastors-can-endorse-political-candidates

Do you know if that applies to all nonprofits or just churches? The articles I’ve been reading throw both terms around, so it’s unclear.

Good morning, Todd and all.

Regarding the article that Todd refers to, it's my understanding from the court document that the Johnson Amendment refers to all nonprofits, including houses of worship, but this IRS ruling applies strictly to houses of worship.

"Communications from a house of worship to its congregation in connection
with religious services through its usual channels of communication on
matters of faith do not run afoul of the Johnson Amendment as properly
interpreted."
