iNavx allows you to do routes.  I used it when my GPS antenna went South and
it took us from Elizabeth City, NC to Florida.  BTW, this was before Garmin
came out with their Blue Chart app.  I believe the Blue Chart is better
, though, since it gives you both routes and Active Captain data.

Bruce,

For once  a question I can weigh in on. Please understand I've used the previous navigation software from this developer. It was outstanding on the old MacBook then so I decided to try iNav X when it came out for my iPad.

iNavX  is very good, very dependable and with the inclusion of the other products that are packed with it (Mr. Tides 3)  or available  (such as X-Traverse) it is a top notch program. I believe (not 100% sure) that Practical Sailor thought  very well of it.

Where do I sail with it? Puget Sound, the Inside Passage and South East Alaska. US charts are free and the Canadian are available with X-Traverse for small change. Updates come regularly and iNav X (still on the 1st Gen iPad) has NEVER failed me. I use a  Bad Elf GPS plugged into it to get the GPS constellation.

For the cost of the software, you can't go wrong.

Enjoy!
