Ken Cohen and I birded around Hamilton Harbor and along the Lakeshore
this morning.
Our best sighting was two immature male King Eiders and an immature
Surf Scoter at
the end of Millen Road in Stony Creek. The birds were within 50 yards
of the shore right at the end of Millen Road.
We were also amazed by the number of Trumpeter Swans in the harbor in
the vicinity
of Lasalle Marina. We did not do a count but I would estimate there
were 30+ birds
in that area in three different groups. At Windemere Basin we also saw
Ruddy Duck,
Am. Coot, N. Shoveler, Ring-Neck Duck, and off Eastport Drive, a Horned
Grebe.
Millen Road is between the Centennial Road and Fruitland Road exits of
the QEW.
