Tom,
I just made airline reservations for the picnic, but don't know
the whole protocol. Is there a "feast" after the picnic? :-)

The picnic is the feast. Great to hear you're headed this way.
How long you planning to be up this way? We can make sure it won't snow, pretty easy to do in August, even up here in the occasionally frozen north country.

Hi Tom,
Two weeks, unless Daun can't put up with me for that long,
in which case I'd probably come begging at your door.
The two week period is pretty well centered about the picnic,
covering arrival the evening of 17 Aug and leaving mid-day
on 31 August.

Yes, this should be the year!
Yes, we are, as I am planning to do measurements for the guys taking the TNG
antenna design class. Those will mainly be 2m and 70 cm types, so yours will
fit right in. Will check SWR vs Freq and take a shot at gain and hopefully
pattern as well. That last is up to Daun to try to make happen.

Hi Tom,
I have been wanting to come for years, maybe this is the year.
Will you guys be doing antenna measurements? At 70cm? If so, I would
like to bring my homebrewed yagi with me.

That would be either a tube steak or a ground steak. Your preference , sir?
Most of the guys will tell you I only have one setting: burned to a crisp.
As for the AC, they somehow managed to not actually enter the appointment
into their computer, so when they didn't show up I called them. Got
rescheduled for this coming Monday AM. Couldn't embarrass them onto doing
any better. Anyway, the house has two geo systems so we are scraping by on
the smaller one, which at least can take the humidity down some. It serves
the guest BR, so that's where we sleep. Has at least been tolerable inside
today if not doing anything requiring a lot of activity.

Gerd has retired as newsletter editor. So we need someone to take his
place. If someone is willing to gather articles, I am willing to "paste"
the newsletter together.
The August MVUS meeting will be the annual picnic, measurement event and
election of officers. The normal monthly meeting at MCL will not be held in
August. The picnic will be on Saturday August 24 starting at about 11 AM at
Daun Yeagley's home. Daun's GPS and street address:
39.506953, -83.862522
1353 Gurneyville Rd
Wilmington Oh 45177
Bring a side dish or dessert for maybe 6 people. Burgers, brats and drinks
courtesy of MVUS.
If you want any testing done, contact N8ZM at n8zm@mvus.org. He needs to
know what you want to test and the frequency range. Preamps, antennas,
power amps. SWR bridges, power supplies, meters, whatever. Just let Tom
know so we can have the right test gear available.
Adapters for anything other than N, PL259, or SMA would be helpful.
Anything up to 6 GHz is easy, above that advanced notice is definitely
needed.
Bring a couple chairs as well.
If you need additional details contact Tom Holmes or Jim Bacher.
