Designation of Emeritus

At its board meeting in Las Vegas, the IMLA Board of Directors unanimously agreed to expand the Fellows program to bestow the designation of Emeritus on a member of the IMLA Fellows who retires from the practice of law while a Fellow and retains membership in IMLA as a retiree.  We will be reaching out to persons who might qualify to determine their interest and we will be looking at possibly expanding the program for people who retain an active law license after retiring from a government practice.  If we do expand the program to those who may still maintain a law license we will be looking at what limitations should be imposed.  The IMLA Fellows Rules have not yet been amended to address this change, but will be in the coming months.

I forgot to mention this during our call the other day.  Please feel free to chime in with ideas or comments.  Chuck

I agree with this, I think this is a reflection of a person's career in Municipal Law and if they remain a member of the bar, I don't see why this should not continue.
