"There was an armed robbery on Monday (Aug 1st) at about 10:30pm, near the
intersection of NE 8th Street and 96th Avenue NE. I'm forwarding the
information that I received from Officer Carla Iafrate.

It's very unfortunate that the police weren't able to catch the suspect, but
they certainly made an effort. I encountered the K9 unit when it was
starting its track.

Do you have a way of forwarding this information to other Lochleven
residents? Also, if Vuecrest doesn't know this already, I'm sure that they'd
want to hear about it."

The suspect description was:

White male. 26 yo, 5'10"

Skinny

Scruffy, 5 o'clock shadow

Tan pants, blue pullover (hoodie) sweater

Black shoes

Was carrying a black pistol.

Suspect was not located that night after a extensive K9 track.

TIPS FROM BELLEVUE POLICE:

  1. If you are home, always verbally answer when anyone knocks. DO NOT

PRETEND TO BE NOT AT HOME AND DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR

  1. When you come home to an empty home without an alarm. Slow down

and make noise as you enter.  Look for anything out of place or missing.  If
you sense something is wrong back out and call 9-1-1

  1. When you come home to an empty home with an alarm and you get the

signal that the alarm was tripped, back out and call 9-1-1.

  1. If you have children at home without adult supervision and someone

knocks you can consider this response:

  1. Verbally answer without opening the door, with maybe yelling " Mom/

Dad someone is at the door"

  1. Wait 2-3 seconds

  2. Then yell, " no thank you" or "my mom/dad/uncle/aunt are busy"

  3. Pick up a portable phone and from inside the home watch where the

person walks.

  1. If they walk away.. good

  2. If they walk around the back of the home call 9-1-1

  3. NOTE: if someone is attempting to break in, have them call 9-1-1,

not a friend or relative

  1. If you have side lights consider having a phone handset near the

front door.  So, when you verbally answer the door you can easily pick up
the phone if needed or to show the person at the door that if something
happens, you can call 9-1-1
