Sandra,

I spent a lot of time looking into this last night, and the consensus was to turn them down to the “pilot” setting. This leaves the pilot light on, so it doesn’t have to be relit later, and keeps the units from coming on and off to heat the water. That said, doesn’t really matter as long as you still have water in your tanks...most of us do, because the water shut off rather abruptly, but just in case, I turned mine to “Pilot”.

Hello:

This May be a silly question, but does anyone know if we’re supposed to turn off the pilot light on water heater since there’s no water running through it?

Water outage update. SAWS representative I spoke to yesterday called to let me know they have a crew working on the Pump station that is impacting several neighborhoods that include Limestone Ranch. He let me know this area is a high priority. Although he could not provide a timeline when water problem may be fully resolved, he indicated the crew is working diligently to quickly restore water to our area. The area impacted ranges from Highland to Wincrest and all the way to Balcones Creek. Reid Cain, Vice PresidentLimestone Ranch BoardTom Angotti, PresidentGreg Anderson, Secretary/Treasurer. Do not turn off the pilot light... if you shut the pilot light you need to shut the gas off too.... otherwise the gas will still flow.  Just set it to the low setting and that just keeps the pilot light on.... but not fire the tank to heat up the water... that said... there should still be water in the tank...
