Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsDon't miss Seneca Falls on the north end of Cayuga Lake. Great dockage in
the historic district right in town. Visit Woman's Hall of Fame.

I recommend removing it just for peace of mind if any doubt.. These
bridges are fixed and unforgiving. and you will not need the light.
When we went through, I positioned a boat pole taped to the bow
pulpit that measure 15'2" from the tip to the water as check should
the water level have raised from rain. After dropping all we measure
"approximately" 14' 8"ish but were not positive of the exact
measurement and pole helped comfort us. If it made it, I knew we
could. Looked tacky but worked.
The Western Erie Canal is great cruising offering side trips into the
finger lakes and Cities such as Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Watkins
Glen and Ithaca. as well as the myriad of charming villages and towns
sprinkled along its length every 10-12 miles. Cruise an hour or so,
pull up to the town wall, plug in to the free power and enjoy the
town. Such simple but thoroughly enjoyable cruising. Oh, and also
inexpensive...$75 for a season long lock pass and almost all stops
offer free power and water, washrooms with showers, pump outs, and
some with free washer and dryers! Talk about welcoming the boaters,
they know how to do it.
Enjoy!

I know I am very close to the 15' 6" vertical clearance required here
with our Kady Krogen Manatee. I would appreciate hearing from any other
Manatee owners who have been through here re just how much room they had above
their pilot house. I am wondering if I should remove the searchlight which
extends about another 8" above the roof. Advice, experiences?

And if you do visit, make sure to visit Joyce Sinicropi's Flowers and Gifts on the north side of Fall St.
Joyce is my wife Judy's H.S. (1958) classmate and also was in one of my classes at SUNY-Albany!
Wife Judy's brother is classmate of Craig and Marylou (treadnwater) and Craig worked many years with a H.S. classmate of mine! Small world, isn't it?
