If you haven't been to see this you need to play hooky tomorrow. I suspect that the birds will move out with the warm front but they still may be around in the morning. Following Tyler's post, Gord Vogg and I went today. It is an amazing sight - one of the wonders of the animal world for sure. We estimate that there were a minimum of 800,000 Greater Snow Geese present today, perhaps as many as a million birds. We saw 3 Ross's Geese in the mix, but mostly we just sat back and marvelled at the numbers. We were present from 10am to 1pm. Directions as per Tyler's email: To access the area from the 401 exit either 814(Lancaster cty rd 34) or further west at exit 804 (Summerstown cty rd 27) follow cty rd 2/south service road eastward into Quebec (Hwy 338). There are several viewing areas of the river along these roads. A good spot to watch is the river access near the following coordinates: 45.15694 N, 74.45113 W. There is a little park just west of here that is good for access too (parking only along the roadside).
