Hello Ruth  & Bill,

Of course we remember both of you. I am so happy to hear all is well with
both of you. Phil had quite a time with stage4  colon cancer. He was ill on
the Mississippi and we stopped in Columbus so he could see a doctor. He was
so blessed with great and tender care in the Baptist hospital. This all
happened in November of 2006 he had the surgery there and after 3 weeks was
back on the boat and heading home to Florida.  He is quite a trooper.
Needless to say after 6 months of rotgut chemo and a few months recovering
he is alive and cancer free today.  We did complete the loop Dec 13, 06. He
is now building beautiful wood strip canoes that look like sculptures if
they weren't so big I would put the in the house. I am taking jewelry
classes and loving working the chasing hammers on metals. We now have a 20
ft pontoon boat for fun . I personally miss the waterways and most of all
the lovely friends we made. Please take care of yourselves . Peace.  And
Health. Rose & Phil

Hi, Rose!

Yes, I am the Bill Donovan married to Ruth whom you met as you were
planning to do the Great Loop.  We initially talked about what boat you
should get, and you wound up buying "Wings."  I think the last time we saw
you was in Jacksonville as we were nearing the end of our Loop (Savannah
was our starting point).  Of course, we saw each other in various other
places, too.

The thing that prompts this email, and the reason I know you subscribed to
the Great Loop List is I am Administrator of that forum.  Yes, I am the
mean ol' cop that keeps everybody in line (at least tries to).  I also try
to help.

So, a personal welcome to the GL List!  We hope you and Phil are doing
well.  Seems the last we heard, Phil was having some health issues?  Ruth
and I are still boating some -- Ruth's prime hobby is gardening while mine
is boats.  We sold Integrity, the Monk 36, when we finished the Loop in
April of 2006, then bought a DeFever 44 about18 months later (named her
"Georgia Peach"), then sold that one when the recession hit and prices were
in the cellar.  We waited about another 12 months and bought a little
Bayliner Ciera 28 foot cruiser.  Tiny little thing compared to the DeFever.
We named this one "Waypoint" realizing it was sort of a stop along the
journey.  We keep it in Chattanooga, about 113 miles from our house in
Marietta, GA.

So, we visit the boat every couple of weeks for a few days and garden in
between.

Take a minute if you can and tell us what has been happening with you....

And, again, welcome to the GL LIst!

Bill (and Ruth)
