Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes

No, you and your friend are not crazy. Folks have done the Loop
aboard jet skis, and small boats of almost every description --
canoes, kayaks, dinghies, etc.
The tricks will likely be, (1) careful minding of the weather
(particularly wind and waves on the open water), (2) finding suitable
lodging near the water for each night (it has been done) and (3)
carrying enough fuel, or finding enough, to get you from Hoppie's to
Kentucky (you may have to hike for it). On (3), I am assuming you
will be using power other than rowing, sailing, solar, etc.
Please keep us all posted regarding your plans and progress!

My friend and I (both retired and previous Trawler owners) are considering
doing the Great Loop in very small boats (under 12 ft). Is this crazy to
even think about? or is it doable given the types of water that we will
have during such a trip. We are somewhat experienced boaters but no
experience with the Great Loop. We obviously would not be living on the
boats, but just using them to get from point A to B to C, etc. Any advice
appreciated.
