The latest semi-official word from reliable sources at Canal Corp ... the repairs on the Erie Canal are almost done, some time is needed for filling the water back up and for buoy replacement, and they expect an opening for Friday ... but the weather report is looking uncooperative. This week we are getting a daily deluge, with crazy weather including warnings of quarter-sized hail, 60 mph winds and torrential downpours ... we already had some of that the past few days. They lost most of a day already this week, it's difficult to operate a crane sitting on a barge when the weather gets hairy. Weather may possibly delay things further.
