Solar and Sheep Farm Tour

Sponsored by the Pierce Conservation District

May 11, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

4004 50th St Ct E, Tacoma 98443

Visit Blackberry Patch Farm, home of the Thompson Romney Sheep Farm where on their four acre farm they raise, show, and sell Romney sheep, wool, wool products, and sell grass seed grown on Oregon.  As part of their belief if self-sufficiency, in 2011 they installed a solar power system on the south roof of their garage to produce their own electricity. A representative of Sun's Eye Power which installed the system will be on hand to answer questions.  We will look at and discuss the solar power system during the first part of the tour, and will then tour the farm to look at and discuss pasture re-seeding, rotational grazing, and sheep animal husbandry. You are welcome to come to one or both parts of the tour. Please sign-up by contacting Rene' at renes@piercecountycd.orgmailto:renes@piercecountycd.org or 253 845-9770 x 106.
