The City of Auburn and the Auburn Arts Commission are pleased to present the work of Joy Kloman at the Cheryl Sallee Gallery, on view July 6 - August 29, 2023.
Artist Joy Kloman's paintings vibrate with color and energy, often "referencing vintage photographs, (and) bittersweet nostalgic themes." The sourced photos the artist starts with in her process are black and white, which she thinks suggest "a history of days passed," but in her paintings, Kloman adds "color and a fluorescent underpainting, creating tension between past and present."
