A lot depends on the river conditions:

We went down last summer just as the flood conditions were subsiding, so the current was really pushing us along.

We left Grafton and got into Hoppies so quickly, we decideded to keep going and made Kaskaskia in one run.

From there, we were planning to stop at Angelo tow head but with the high water, the flow thru the back channel was too fast for comfort. The sounder was calling around 30' and we were worried we might snag one of the old logs that tend to pile up behind these islands.

So we went up the Ohio to just below Olmstead and tied off to one of the Mooring Cells (used a 200' anchor line, drifted back and let the current hold us). The current was much calmer on the Ohio and there is a boat launch so we could get the dog to shore easily.

When we got to the Tennesse River, we called and the lockmaster told us the queue wasn't very long so we took the short route and stopped at LightHouse Landing.

It was three long days but it was midsummer so the days were long and with the extra current, we were running almost double our normal 6.5mph cruise speed.

With low water this year, it's probably a totally different river.
