Sandy Aftermath

Ahoy All:

We've been slowly cruising south from New Bern NC on our trawler Shady Lady. We anchored out every night except for two nights in Wilmington NC. Then, on Thursday, with Sandy becoming a concern, we cruised about 60 miles south of Charleston to Edisto Beach SC. It's a bit off the ICW, at the mouth of the South Edisto River.
We're still here. Sandy passed well to the east of us, sending very little rain but continuous winds in the mid-20s that are expected to continue into Tuesday.
With various Sounds to cross when back on the ICW, Shady Lady will stay in port until the winds subside.

Great to hear from you again,  Wade!  And glad Sandy was no real problem.

Smooth seas,

Bill

Our trip south has been interrupted by Hurricane Sandy.. Here we sit at
Atlantic Yacht Basin in Great Bridge/Chesapeake, Virginia.  The effects of
the storm were starting to be felt today, with the worst of it coming late
tonight and then for the next day or two.  Read more about our experience
with Sandy at

I have to say (so far, at least) if we have to be stuck somewhere to ride
out the storm, we're very happy to be at Atlantic Yacht Basin - we feel that
the boat is very protected here and the staff has been wonderful.
