Hi - I did some investigating and found that the download fails when downloaded with the latest Firefox (38.0.5).

But, it works when downloaded with the latest Chrome (Version 43.0.2357.130 m).

FWIW, I download many PDFs a day (But not from Dropbox) all are successful with Firefox.

The usual reason for that is your download speed is slow,
and the download process times out before the entire file
has been downloaded.

You need to try again until you get the full file downloaded.

Randy,

When I try to download the 500K PDF it shows up as 162K and will not open.

There is an old saying that if you aren't paying for a service,
you are the product.

Dropbox is free because of what they do with the information saved
on the service.  When you don't pay them, they throttle the download
speed to modem rates.  Most browser download programs are set to
time out after 10 seconds, or some such, after not receiving a packet
after a request.

I am pretty sure that Firefox will allow you to adjust that timeout
using the about:config page.

Out of curiosity I downloaded both pdfs, and several other public
files [ there are 3 subdirectories] on the dropbox link using Firefox
(38.0.5).  All's well.  Fast and "instant" and I have a 30Mbs link.
