Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsGot caught on the Hudson during the big October snow storm. Had stopped further south but since electric power in the entire region had been knocked out we needed to run our gentset. At the first marina we were sitting in mud at low tide so could not have heat. Moved on to Half Moon Bay Marina. The wind was howling and the docks rocking but Steve the Dock Master was there to help us in. Plenty of depth to run the genset.
Outstanding gourmet grocery within walking distance but had to shop with a flashlight! Steve drove us to the train station and we spent a fun day in NYC city. Stayed three nights at the marina waiting for the weather to settle.
There are no markers heading into the marina but chart depth is there. If you have a dog be sure to advise Steve in advance so he can put you in a slip with easy access so you don't have to go thru condo property to walk it. Condo does not allow dogs on their property.
Overall a great stop. We highly recommend it.
