5/31, Great Meadows (Stratford)-

I spent a portion of the morning exploring all the areas of Great Meadows.  Highlights were tons of Willow Flycatchers (at least 7, more like 10+), an adult and juvenile Yellow-crowned Night-heron in a tree offering great looks/photos, an adult Clapper Rail in the open (photos), and lifer(s) in 4 Marsh Wrens.

I suppose also worth mentioning, I noticed a Black-bellied Plover with what seemed to be a broken leg.  It didn't put any pressure on it, and it somewhat dangled there.  It was behind the warehouses all the way down.  I called the DEP and left a message.... although I don't see them caring enough to do anything.

Location: Stewart B. McKinney NWR - Stratford Great Meadows
Observation date: 5/31/09
Notes: Hummingbirds feeding on large lavender colored flowers on tall bush along RR tracks. Both Saltmarsh Sparrows on RR trail close to platform w/scope. 7 Willow Flycatchers is a VERY low estimate. Easily 10+. Every spot, and seemingly every clump of trees had a couple fitz-bewers there.
