Hello NCL members,

I know I don't have to tell you how much time and energy adult educators
are spending on digital literacy issues these days! That's why I'm very
excited to share with you several new releases from National Skills
Coalition. As you can imagine, despite the general stampede toward online
learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we're thinking about how the
impact is hitting different communities very differently, due to
pre-existing disparities in broadband internet access, digital devices, and
digital literacy.

Today, NSC is releasing a new fact sheet, Applying a Racial Equity Lens to
Digital Literacy
https://www.nationalskillscoalition.org/resources/publications/file/Digital-Skills-Racial-Equity-Final.pdf
,
which includes a section specifically focused on immigrants and English
learners.

We also have a timely blog post recapping COVID-specific developments in
adult education and workforce
https://www.nationalskillscoalition.org/news/blog/covid-19-shines-a-spotlight-on-digital-skills-updates-and-key-questions-for-advocates-and-policymakers?emci=ab6f471f-f483-ea11-a94c-00155d03b1e8&emdi=ea000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&ceid=6424595,
as well as key questions for skills advocates to be asking. (Linked in that
post are five industry-specific fact sheets on digital literacy in various
sectors of our economy.) You'll see a few familiar faces highlighted in
that blog post!

Finally, my super-smart colleague Molly Bashay and Leticia Lewis of
Software.org: the BSA Foundation are out with a piece in Medium about the
*policy *directions we should be thinking of
https://medium.com/national-skills-coalition/digital-fluency-for-a-resilient-economy-38bf4a9e569c
on
digital literacy.

Please share -- and more importantly, let me know how these stack up with
what YOU are seeing in your communities.

-Amanda
