We have a 1 person IT Department and use an outside consultant for some help desk assistance and as back-up for IT. These individuals have access to everything from an IT perspective. We are wanting to develop a policy/procedure that sets forth the approvals/permissions that are required for the IT Director to access someone's files/emails etc. absent a request from the employee to solve a problem etc. We also want the policy to require an audit (maybe every 2 years) showing when they are accessing what files etc. to be sure no one is abusing their access/authority. Do any of your cities have such a policy?
