We have not gotten the weather we hopped for. It started out ok and then it
got worse. About 16:00 yesterday the wind can up and started to blow right
in our faces. The underlining swell is running from the west at about 4 to
6 feet. The wind is from the west also and it blew all night at about 25
knots. It has been a bumpy ride. Not unsafe, just not comfortable. It was
getting a little better as my watch ended at 08:00 this morning, but know it
is building again. We have slowed down, to try to keep the pounding to a
minimum.
The result is that in 24 hours we have only done 176 miles. The
current position is: 20 58.5 North by 107 16.8 West. With 185 miles left
to Cabo, and little chance of going faster, we will arrive some tome about
12:00 Thursday. That will be about 4 hour later than the plan, but still a
good time to arrive. There has been very little traffic on the crossing.
We expect the traffic to pick up, as we approach Cabo. We have not been
fishing in Mexico, as they require a license, and we did not have time to
get them. So no more fishing stories. One last note: the water temperature
is dropping. From a high of 90 in Nicaragua to 75, just of the coast
yesterday. We just checked and it is back up to 82. Bob thinks it will go
up a little more as we get to Cabo. Bob also thinks it is the cause of the
high winds. Bob is the resident weather expert, or so he tells us.
I will send this from Cabo, as soon as I can.
