If you’ve ever passed a stand of trees on a walk or a ride, this work might
look familiar. I’ve been interested for awhile in the effects of a graphic
on folded paper and how the image changes with the movement of the viewer’s
eye. That visual effect and the gallery space at PCAF seemed like an
appropriate pairing to explore this, the latest of my folded drawing
efforts. -MK

PCAF Art Gallery is honored to display the latest of Michael Kaniecki’s
folded drawing efforts,

“Looking Through Trees” during the months of August and September. Using
India ink and wash

on paper, Michael’s work covers 33’ in length and fills the gallery with
his distinctive mark marking resembling an abstract landscape of trees. The
folded work offers angles and shadows, perspectives unique to the viewer’s
eye. In conjunction with September’s National HIV/AIDS & Aging Awareness
Day, “Looking Through Trees” is reminiscent of old growth stands and the
wisdom, maturation, and fortitude that comes from the extension of years.
Hours of the gallery are M, T, Th, and F from 9 - 5 pm. Wednesday from 11 -
5 pm. All are welcome.

FEATURING: Michael Kaniecki

Michael Kaniecki is a life long drawing student, teacher, and Industrial
Designer with experience in pattern design, furnishings and interiors,
exhibit, and display. Current focus is on drawings and expressive
mark-making.

Show runs through September 30, 2019.
