Any new documentary suggestions for an undergrad Soc class on New Media & Society?  I haven't taught this course in 4 years... and our library fund has been dry for some time... there's a chance I'll be able to secure a couple purchases for this class.  Thanks for any ideas.

I like two related recent Frontline documentaries: Growing Up Online http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/kidsonline/, and Digital Nation http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/digitalnation/.  They both serve as good conversation-starters with undergrads.  I've paired Growing Up Online with readings on SNS research.  I used Digital Nation this semester at the very beginning of class to start off thinking about various issues related to new media.  You can watch them both entirely online, so you can get an idea if they'll work for you.  There's also a lot of additional material online.

Lessig and Free Culture offer good choices, but I still haven't decided
which is my favorite (too many offerings):
http://www.lessig.org/content/av/

Zittrain's Minds for Sale in good quality is available here:
http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~fineinst/projects/zittrain.html

Googling for wikisym keynote video and wikimania keynote video offers
some interesting feeds, too, although often enough - in poor youtube
quality. There are some other conferences you and others may be more
familiar with which may offer interesting keynotes; in fact creating a
list of such resources would be a great idea (once we get some kind of
citasa wiki running...).
