I have an all chain rode and always use a bridle. I put a loop of chain
between the boat and bridle attachment point that acts like a kellett. I
understand a properly placed kellett would be more effective, but the
length of chain is easy to deploy. The long loop of chain certainly does
help in dampening the boat surging against the chain, and it also puts
weight on the chain hook, that is on the end of the bridle, keeping it
tight. I always use a long loop of chain but never enough to reach the sea
floor.
