Our Spring membership meeting is less than a week away! Next Saturday. I
am being a little more on top of things this time around. I have attached
an agenda for this meeting.
If anyone has anything they would like to add, please let me know and I
will get it added to the agenda.

I am also sending the link to the SignUp Genius for sponsorship of trophies
for our Specialty, which is one of the agenda items.

My question is should we have zoom meetings so that we can make a quorum?
Do we need to change bylaws to have zoom meetings as part of our
membership?

Duane,
I'm not sure. I think that if the By-Laws allow "conference calls" it means
that you can have multiple people calling in as long as (1) they identify
themselves when they first call and (2) they do so again whenever they say
something.

If I get a chance I'll look at the NCA By-Laws because they have been
changed to allow the board and committees to meet by conference call, but
I'm not sure about meeting a quorum for a membership meeting. I'm also not
sure if people can designate a proxy, which is what corporations typically
do for this.

The NCA does NOT appear to have a provision for anything other than in
person attendance, and that is also required for one board of director's
meeting a year:

If it's useful (not for this week), this is the language in the By-Laws of
two of the non-profit boards I am on:

Section 5. Meeting by Conference Telephone or Other Devices

Any one or more members of the Board of Directors, or any committee
thereof, may participate in a meeting of the Board of Directors, or such
committee, by means of a conference telephone or other communications
equipment allowing all persons participating in the meeting to hear each
other at the same time. Participation by such means will constitute
presence in person at a meeting.

There is hope, based on this (sorry it is the AI answer) answer to the
question - but you ideally should change the by laws because if someone
objects it will probably result in any action taken being undone:

In minnesota can people attend corporate annual meetings by zoom and be

I agree with Duane. I think offering a Zoom or Microsoft Meet option would be very helpful. My spring teaching schedule is already locked in so I can’t be there in person this weekend.

I really appreciate the advance dates on the rest of the 2026 meetings so I can save the dates and avoid scheduling my classes on those date.

I suggest emailing the membership to ask if anyone objects to allowing attendance at the membership business part of the upcoming meeting by zoom. (Assuming that it can be done from Izaak Walton). If no one objects, go for it.

I have thought about adding a virtual option for some time.
The free Zoom limits the time to 45 minutes.
I do have Microsoft Teams, which is also free, and does not limit time.
There is also Google meet, which Wright County Kennel Club uses, but I am
not familiar with it.

I could set up a Teams meeting for this weekend if no one objects?

If not objections, I will send out the link for the Teams option tomorrow.
