I am pleased to announce this year's CITASA awards. Please join us when
the awards are presented at the CITASA Business Meeting on Monday, Aug
4, 1:30-2:10pm (Hilton). Also, help us celebrate with the award
recipients at the CITASA reception on Sunday, Aug 3, 6:30-830pm at the
Lucky Strike Lanes (145 Ipswich Street - behind Fenway Park).

CITASA William F. Ogburn Career Achievement Award recognizes a sustained
body of research that has provided an outstanding contribution to the
advancement of knowledge in the area of sociology of communications
and/or the sociology of information technology. Award Committee: Barry
Wellman (Chair), Anabel Quan-Haase

2008 Award:
WILLIAM SIMS BAINBRIDGE, NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION.

CITASA Award for Public Sociology recognizes a specific achievement in
teaching, the development or the use of a communication or information
technology, or the dissemination of knowledge that advances public
understanding or engagement with the sociology of communications or the
sociology of information technology. Award Committee: Marc Smith

2008 Award:
MICHAEL MACY, CORNELL UNIVERSITY.

CITASA Book Award recognizes an outstanding book related to the
sociology communications or the sociology of information technology.
