It was another cool and damp morning in the park, but there was some decent
activity. A Lark Sparrow was found at the entrance to the Marsh Boardwalk
parking lot, and a Worm-eating Warbler and Mourning Warbler were north of
Sparrow Field on post woods. A Sedge Wren was found at the Marsh Boardwalk
as well. We also just received a report of a Yellow-throated Vireo behind
the bathroom building at Blue Heron. Last night Black Terns were seen at
the Marsh Boardwalk for the first time this year. Other birds seen today
include Scarlet Tanager, Red-headed Woodpeckers, both Baltimore and Orchard
Orioles, and a mix of warblers including Hooded, Northern Parula,
Nashville, Northern Waterthrush, and Black-and-white. The first report of
Red-eyed Vireo also just came in. The next couple of days will be dryer and
more comfortable so we're looking forward to seeing what shows up!
Good birding from your hike leaders William Konze, Karl Konze, Tim Arthur,
Dana Latour, Emma Burbidge and Pete Read!
