Sexist Remark, apology and encouragement

Sonaia observed:  Hi Scott, "As you start to evaluate the options you find a
Nordhavn or a Krogen will keep the admiral happy with a nice interior,..."
I am not quite sure with who you travel with but I could be easily
'offended' with your sexist remark above :-(
Scott replies:  I apologize if my sentence, taken out of context, offends
anyone.  As I've stated over and over and over again, this entire exercise
in passagemaking would be a NON-Starter for me if my spouse (whom I
appreciatively refer to as The Admiral) wasn't supportive of the effort.
She has stepped up and been a partner in every part of this journey,
including providing fit, finish and livability feedback that drew us to the
Nordhavn, rather than a Diesel Duck.  Her appreciation of livability and
buy-in to the life style was an absolute requirement for us to choose and
purchase any boat.  I was proud of her when she outscored me on the USCG
Boating Safety exam, which I mentioned with great pride on the T&T list!
I'd like to encourage Sonaia to continue to contribute to this forum, as
very, very few woman do.  It's hard to find people (male or female) that are
willing to put their comments out there for people to comment on.  There is
risk in it, because it's so easy for people to take pot shots at you,
criticize you, remark about your motives and so forth.  Of the 1,700+
subscribers to the T&T forum and the 430+ subscribers to the PUP forum, only
a very, very small percentage contribute.  So, please, do contribute, and
again, if anyone took my comments to in any way demean woman, I apologize.

I have known Scott and Marian for several years and helped them evaluate
trawlers leading to the purchase of their Nordhavn 40.  During the buying
process you spend a lot of time with people and get to know them.  After the
sale I spent a couple of days on board with Scott helping him get acclimated
to his new boat, heading north off the coast of California.  We spoke about
his upcoming adventure with Marian, how they have planned this trip for
years, becoming empty nesters and the forthcoming fulfillment of setting
sail with the woman he loves to pursue their mutual dream.

A big part of any successful voyage is a shared effort by both partners and
as I read Scott's comment I know his intent was not derogatory, but instead
a compliment to Marian who is equally thrilled to be cutting the dock lines
and heading to sea.  The Bulger's are a wonderful couple and I think this
is just a simple misinterpretation.

Let's go back to talking about passagemaking...speaking of which, Eric and
Christi Grab are about ready to take off westward from CA to the Marquesas
in the next few weeks.  Approximately 2900 miles in a Nordhavn 43 is their
first leap.  I spent some time recently with the Grabs in a training shake
down run and they too are a dedicated couple who are hoping to live out
their dreams.  The Grab's and Bulger's have been planning these trips for
years and have gleaned a lot of important insights from this list, keep up
the good work.
