From “Voices” by Mauricio Robalino
3rd Thursday Newsletter
Issue: 50
Date: March 20, 2025
Dear Reader,
This, the 50th issue, is the last 3rd Thursday Newsletter
https://www.beeugenebecreative.com/blog we will be putting out, but this
is not the last message about events for the various programs we are
working on. Our ongoing projects will continue and we’ll send out periodic
updates on them, and other noteworthy events. After fifty issues it just
seems that this is a good time to step aside and let other voices come
forward.Ongoing Projects Voices of Tacoma: A Gathering of Poets

The Gatherings of Poets events will continue monthly, and we’ll look at
publishing Volume 2 eventually. Stay tuned for more information. Analog
Poems https://www.beeugenebecreative.com/analogpoems To be launched on
April 2nd, Analog Poems is a Voices of Tacoma spin-off. Inspired by the
need to regroup, at a local level, and return to the act of creative
expression outside of the realm tainted by oligarchical lackeys (who run
social media and high-tech), this monthly zine will be printed and
distributed by hand at local stores and at events, or by subscription
delivered by the US Mail. Eventually we’ll create a truly analog submission
process but, for now, if you have a poem or two which you would like to
submit, email AGatheringOfPoets@gmail.com. Please keep the poems to less
than one page in length. The Wild Rose Project
https://www.beeugenebecreative.com/wildroseproject A collaboration that
started when a poet met a musician at an Art Festival, the Wild Rose Project
is based on a poem by Burl Battersby entitled Wild Rose
https://drive.google.com/file/d/169CkE0_bk0-YUEIMYsuoC9eJdVY-61xt/view?usp=sharing
. Nic Daniel, a recovering ex-professional musician, is composing a five
part suite which follows the five sections of the poem:
“Her Arboretum”
2.
“Her Perfumery”
3.
“Her Reliquary”
4.
“Her Sanctuary”
5.
“Her Obituary”
We have demos of the first two songs already recorded. Listen to Nic
perform them here:

We are still raising funding to finish composing, recording, editing,
mixing, and mastering the five songs. Our GoFundMe campaign is just a
little more than 30% of the way to our goal - please support us
https://gofund.me/439845c5 if you can!
We have several band members and are still seeking more. If you’re a
musician who wants to join us, please let us know
