Hey Tacoma arts community,Tacoma Ocean Fest - started last year by former News Tribune arts reporter Rosemary Ponnekanti - is back June 9 for a ton of fun! Come celebrate the ocean with music, dance, art, film and more; learn from local groups and hands-on science, and get inspiredto protect our oceans on World Ocean Weekend.
Try scuba virtual reality or paddleboarding, hear youthpoetry or help create an ocean story mural based on Native American coyotestories by RYAN! Feddersen. Dive into enormous whale watercolors by Lauren Boilini. See Turtle Wave, a community art work made by hundreds of Tacomans through April. Or paddle out on a kayak to see the waterfront and help pick up litter.

Music, dance, film, food trucks andocean learning - there’s something for everyone!

All ages, 10am-5pm June 9 at the Foss Waterway Seaport,705 Dock St, Tacoma. And it's free.
PLUS: Be part of a Human Orca Mural at the beach clean-up on World Ocean Day, June 8! Clean up the Purdy Sand Spit, then grab a black umbrella or white fabric (we'll bring them) and follow directions to create a GIANT human orca mural on the beach, to be filmed by drone. RSVP on our Facebook.
