Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Bill

Hello everyone,

Quick follow up on the Senate Labor-HHS appropriations bill, as the full bill and committee report has now been released. In addition to recommending level-funding adult education state grants (as we previously reported), the committee also recommends level-funding national leadership activities. In other words, both the state grants and national leadership funding is frozen in this bill at the FY 2016 level.

The recommendation can be found on page 73 of the Committee Report, which I excerpted below. Gmail is complaining that the full report is too big to send.

Adult Education

The Committee recommends $595,667,000 for Adult Education programs.

Adult Education State Grants.-The Committee recommendation includes $581,955,000 for Adult Education State Grants, which pro- vides grants to States for programs that assist adults in becoming literate and in obtaining the skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency.

National Leadership Activities.-The Committee recommends $13,712,000 for adult education national leadership activities.
