Official Counter:        Chris Burris

Observers:        Tom Bolohan

Visitors:
Thanks to Chris B and Tom B for doing today's count.

Weather:
Temps ranged from 8C-17C. Winds were steady and rather strong – around 30
km/h – from the ENE. Clouds were essentially absent in the area
throughout the count period.

Raptor Observations:
It wasn’t an easy day: The easterly component to the wind and zero cloud
cover kept most birds high and often difficult to spot and track in the
blue. That said, overall numbers (over 1400) and variety (13 of 15 regular
species) was impressive – including a Northern Goshawk overhead at 1120a
and four Peregrines (1131p, 1224p, 120p, 154p and 230p)

Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptors included: Canada Goose, Herring Gull, American Crow, Mourning
Dove, Blue Jay, American Goldfinch, Northern Flicker, European Starling,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Black-capped Chickadee,
White-throated Sparrow, Carolina Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Purple Finch,
Pine Siskin, Dark-eyed Junco, American Robin, Northern Flicker, Hairy
Woodpecker, Hermit Thrush, Eastern Bluebird, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and
Lapland Longspur.

Predictions:
Not the best winds for Monday.. forecast to be ESE winds which tends to
push birds inland away from the hawk watch site.
