MacArthur Foundation, we are launching the Empowering HBCU Libraries with Civil Rights Preservation, Digital Innovation, and Transformative Professional Development initiative. A key component of this work is the Student Protest Archives Oral History and Digitization Project, which seeks to: -Preserve and digitize oral histories documenting student-led protests at HBCUs. -Engage 10–20 HBCUs in identifying collections that spotlight civil rights activism and campus organizing. -Provide $11,250 subgrants to support digitization, metadata improvement, and enhanced accessibility.
