Dear Colleagues,

CAL has just received the following update from Larry Condelli, who has asked us to share it with our networks.

"The request for comments is for revisions to the ABE descriptors for the NRS. The ESL descriptors are the same and remain as is.  They were not included in the comment request because they have not changed.  They remain in effect."

I hope that this allays some of the concern. It certainly did for us, and we thank Larry for responding so quickly.

Deborah

These are out for comment.  ABE state staff in MN believe the ESL indicators are gone...?

Is it certain they are gone, Judy? I know these are the proposed ones.  But I found no mention of English learners in the whole document.

Attached are the proposed NRS Education Functioning Level Descriptor changes.  The modifications have been made to align the functioning level descriptors more closely with the College and Career Readiness Standards.  Most striking to me is that the ESL levels are gone.  Has there been any buzz about that?
