Does anyone have experience with contacting a media advocacy program- like WOAI Troubleshooters? I feel like this issue could use some media attention. Friday is unacceptable as is denying responsibility.

SAWS website continues to deny there are any water outages due to anything other than frozen pipes in the individual home, even though the water is out next door in Highlands Ranch, and most of our neighborhood, and Napa Oaks, and several other surrounding neighborhoods. The only thing the SAWS website says about the pump stations is that the rolling outages have caused low water pressure for some customers occasionally and on an isolated basis. I think we all need to be calling them repeatedly until they acknowledge the problem.

I would not even try that they because they would not care. Our zip code is not a story. About 7 months ago, I had a busted water pipe and the bill was higher than I normally pay. I called Saws and they stated because of my Zip code and income level in that Zip Code they don't give discounts. I tried to fight by sending in my bill and repair bill and they still decline it. They don't care about our Zip code. You can read into any way you want too but I got the message.

We’ve been calling SAWS this morning and their recording indicates they are aware of the problem but that it is a power outage issue. The recording says that once power is restored, the water pressure will return to normal. Of course we can’t actually speak to a human and the recording disconnects us.

SAWS website continues to deny there are any water outages due to anything other than frozen pipes in the individual home, even though the water is out next door in Highlands Ranch, and most of our neighborhood, and Napa Oaks, and several other surrounding neighborhoods. The only thing the SAWS website says about the pump stations is that the rolling outages have caused low water pressure for some customers occasionally and on an isolated basis. I think we all need to be calling them repeatedly until they acknowledge the problem.

I would not even try that they because they would not care. Our zip code is not a story. About 7 months ago, I had a busted water pipe and the bill was higher than I normally pay. I called Saws and they stated because of my Zip code and income level in that Zip Code they don't give discounts. I tried to fight by sending in my bill and repair bill and they still decline it. They don't care about our Zip code. You can read into any way you want too but I got the message.

SAWS website continues to deny there are any water outages due to anything other than frozen pipes in the individual home, even though the water is out next door in Highlands Ranch, and most of our neighborhood, and Napa Oaks, and several other surrounding neighborhoods. The only thing the SAWS website says about the pump stations is that the rolling outages have caused low water pressure for some customers occasionally and on an isolated basis. I think we all need to be calling them repeatedly until they acknowledge the problem.

I would not even try that they because they would not care. Our zip code is not a story. About 7 months ago, I had a busted water pipe and the bill was higher than I normally pay. I called Saws and they stated because of my Zip code and income level in that Zip Code they don't give discounts. I tried to fight by sending in my bill and repair bill and they still decline it. They don't care about our Zip code. You can read into any way you want too but I got the message.

SAWS website continues to deny there are any water outages due to anything other than frozen pipes in the individual home, even though the water is out next door in Highlands Ranch, and most of our neighborhood, and Napa Oaks, and several other surrounding neighborhoods. The only thing the SAWS website says about the pump stations is that the rolling outages have caused low water pressure for some customers occasionally and on an isolated basis. I think we all need to be calling them repeatedly until they acknowledge the problem.

I would not even try that they because they would not care. Our zip code is not a story. About 7 months ago, I had a busted water pipe and the bill was higher than I normally pay. I called Saws and they stated because of my Zip code and income level in that Zip Code they don't give discounts. I tried to fight by sending in my bill and repair bill and they still decline it. They don't care about our Zip code. You can read into any way you want too but I got the message.

SAWS website continues to deny there are any water outages due to anything other than frozen pipes in the individual home, even though the water is out next door in Highlands Ranch, and most of our neighborhood, and Napa Oaks, and several other surrounding neighborhoods. The only thing the SAWS website says about the pump stations is that the rolling outages have caused low water pressure for some customers occasionally and on an isolated basis. I think we all need to be calling them repeatedly until they acknowledge the problem.

I was going to suggest contacting the local media, too. I'm a PR &
Communications consultant. With Saws ignoring multiple inquiries on this
or giving conflicting information, news media might bite. SAWS (most
companies) respond often when stories hit the news, because viewers
everywhere will worry about it happening to them, and because reporters
call a different line (where you get though!) and want answers. I would
recommend:
For best chance of coverage, a spokesperson (HOA officer
preferably...Tom/Reid/Greg) should contact the media on behalf of ALL the
neighborhoods affected, and have a short summary sheet ready to email with
the main facts bulleted, list of neighborhoods affected and contact person
for each neighborhood, estimated # of residents/homes dealing with this,
etc. The contact info I would start with is below. Communication to the
right media gatekeeper or the "troubleshooter" contact is important. If
they don't bite immediately, or ask you to email something/assign a
reporter, follow up after several hours or ask for someone at the "news
desk."
Residents can post concerns on the local news Facebook/social media
pages. No ranting, but voicing the same factual message...multiple
neighborhoods lose water in the same way at the same time, Saws gives
different residents conflicting information, not possible to all freeze
simultaneously, no water over 24 hours & possibly till Friday, no
provisions for getting water to homes, folks report their own stories.
Multiple messages @ same problem can get media or SAWS to act. Pics gain
attention, so post pics of melting snow/getting water out of pools for
toilet flushing, etc. But posts need to be succinct, professional and not
ranting. Zip code shouldn't matter if it's a widespread problem. (I doubt
posting on SAWS social media will help...lost in a crowd of complaints).
The point should be made that this is NOT related to the news stories @
SAWS customers experiencing "temporary" water pressure problems. In the
media SAWS claims blackouts (rolling or otherwise) are causing delays due
to pump stations filling back up. They're also starting to excuse the
outages.
That's my quick "two-cents." Here are the media contacts I have:
KENS 5 Newsroom (CBS): 210-336-2002, also should have an email link but
better to get a person on the phone in the newsroom.
News 4 SA (WOAI/NBC): Try the troubleshooters first at 210-476-1070 (
TroubleShooters@news4sanantonio.com), or ask for News Desk
KSAT 12 (ABC): Newsroom: 210-351-1269 (news@ksat.com) (There's a quick
contact form on website, but don't use that. Every person experiencing an
outage will use that.)
FOX KABB: News Hotline 210-442-6397 (news@kabb.com)
Spectrum News 1 (San Antonio news office) 210-582-9408
